This week I got the chance to sit down with Coach Goldman, head basketball coach of the Jesuit basketball team, and Thierry Moliere, one of the senior basketball starters, to ask them about the upcoming season. When asked about expectations for the upcoming season, Coach Goldman said he expects a big year out of the Tigers this year, and have the ultimate goal of making a run at the state title this year.

When asked, Thierry Moliere had similar expectations for this season as Goldman did. Moliere also said, he is prepared to lead this team throughout the season with fellow seniors Ryan Radke, Nick Weir, and CJ Holt. When it comes to the district, Coach Goldman believes the Tigers are prepared for the challenges they face, when asked about teams he was specifically worried about he regarded as looking at the district as difficult all together.

Moliere also mentioned how Jefferson has built up a strong starting lineup with the addition of a couple transfers. As it looks this season the Tigers will have one of its biggest district challenges with Jefferson this year.

Then I proceeded to the question that is on the minds of all Jesuit students when basketball season starts, “what about TC?”. Coach Goldman believes that the Tigers will have their hands full with TC again this year, even with the departures of Kevin Knox, currently at Kentucky, and Tai Strickland, who transferred to St. Pete High. Moliere said one of the most impact players he looks forward to facing off against in the TC game is senior Tim Carter.

Overall, the basketball team looks to make a deep run into the state playoffs as the talent level is high with players like Moliere, Weir, Holt, Radke, and as well as junior class talent like Andrew Dansoh(’19). With expectations high as ever the basketball team looks to prepare itself for another successful season.
